Standard Bookings - Reservation and Cancellation Policy

If you wish to make a reservation, a non-refundable deposit of £50 - £100 per person is usually taken, depending on the extent and overall value of the booking.

The deposit, or debit/credit card details, will guarantee a reservation. Your booking will be confirmed only once this has been received.

A confirmed booking constitutes a binding contract between the guest (or client) and Greshornish House.

By confirming a booking or by providing your card details when making the booking you authorise us to charge your card for deposits, cancellation fees, curtailment fees and any other payments due to us under these terms and conditions.

Under the terms of our standard cancellation policy, cancellation within 14 days of the booked day of arrival will result in the payment of the full value of the booking becoming immediately due. In the event of cancellation more than 14 days before the booked arrival day, the liability will be limited to the value of the deposit already taken (or to £50 per person if no such deposit has been taken). Deposits are always non-refundable and will be deemed to constitute part of any cancellation charge.

Owing to our remote location and the fact that we have only 8 rooms, we do apply these terms and conditions.

We may at our absolute discretion waive cancellation fees in whole or in part for any booked accommodation that is re-sold.

The terms of our standard cancellation policy are varied for bookings of three rooms or more. In the case of such a booking, a deposit of 50% of the value of the booking is required, which is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. The full amount of the booking is due in the event of cancellation within 21 days of the booked arrival date.

If no deposit is received, and card details are not given Greshornish House will regard the booking as unconfirmed and therefore unsecured.

Important : Your booking will be considered cancelled from 8.00pm on the date of your arrival and may be re-let, unless we have been contacted to inform us of your late arrival.

More important, we very much hope that you will not need to cancel! We strongly recommend that our guests take out travel insurance as protection against financial loss in the case of such an eventuality.

Cancellation by Greshornish House:
Very occasionally, we may have to cancel your booking. In such an event we will inform you as early as possible, and offer advice on alternative possibilities for accommodation. Any deposit paid will be returned in full, but we regret that we would not pay compensation or any further reimbursement of costs that you may incur as a result of such cancellation.

Exlusive Use including Weddings

Exclusive Use secures the client exclusive use of the house including public rooms, restaurant, bedrooms, grounds and regular staff for a specified period of time. It ensures privacy and exclusivity for the client and their guests and enables the management team and staff to focus solely on the client and their needs.

A fee is paid by the client to have Exclusive Use of the house for the specified period.

During an Exclusive Use period no guests other than at the invitation of the client are able to use any part of the house, restaurant or bar and signage is prominently displayed at the hotel entrance to that effect.

The fee for Exclusive Use varies according to the day of the week and time of the year and starts from £1,500 per day (weekday, low season).

For Friday and Saturday bookings the minimum Exclusive Use period is 48 hours.

A payment for Exclusive Use does not cover any food, (other than our standard breakfast), beverage and/or additional services.

During an exclusive use period the hotel remains a commercial place of business and all laws, regulations, rules and guidelines that apply to the hotel remain in force at all times.

Exclusive Use Terms

Provisional Bookings will be held for a maximum of 14 days (unless otherwise agreed). No guarantee of availability can be given until the provisional booking is confirmed.

Confirmation of a booking can only be made with payment of a non-refundable deposit of £500, which is part of the exclusivity fee, together with a signed copy of these terms and conditions. By signing these terms and conditions you are agreeing that this is a legally binding document.

Final details together with anticipated numbers are required not less than two months before the date of the event. These must be confirmed in writing and a further non-refundable deposit will be required at this stage.

Unless otherwise agreed, full payment of the value of the contract is due on invoice not less than one calendar month before the function date.

All other costs must be settled prior to departure on the function date.

The organiser is liable for the actions of their guests and for any damage caused to the building, fixtures and fittings, or gardens and grounds.

Chargeback: Because the Exclusive Use Fee covers use of the entire house which includes all bedrooms, Clients may choose to have resident guests charged for their stay by Greshornish House. The charges are always at rack rate as published on the website and all accommodation charges so received are credited back to the client account. Additional supplies of food, beverage and other services to guests are NOT a part of the chargeback which only applies to the provision of accommodation.

Small Weddings

Just the Bride and Groom, or a small wedding party of up to 16, where exclusive use is not required:

Venue Fees of £200 - £500 will be charged depending on whether or not the wedding is to be staged at Greshornish House. (This fee does not include the fee due to the council for the services of the Registrar)

Cancellation Policy for Groups, Weddings, Conferences and Exclusive Use

Fees will be charged as follows:

  • More than four months before the date booked – initial deposit only.
  • Between two and four months before the date booked – 50% of the total estimated account based on anticipated numbers.
  • Within two months – 100% of the total estimated bill based on contracted numbers.
  • We strongly recommend that clients take out appropriate insurance to cover their obligations in the case of such an eventuality.
Other Terms

Check-in
Rooms are usually available to guests after 2:00 pm on the day of arrival. However our preferred time for your arrival is between 4 pm and 6 pm.

Please arrange with us beforehand if you would like to arrive BEFORE 1600 (4 pm) or AFTER 1800 (6 pm). We might not be here to welcome you if you arrive early and we like to hold dinner for you if you expect to arrive late.

Check-out
We ask guests to vacate their rooms by 10.30 am on the day of departure but you are welcome to use the hotel facilities for as long as you like.

Smoking
Greshornish House is NO SMOKING throughout the hotel. Damage caused or cleaning required as a result of smoking in bedrooms is chargeable. Rooms which cannot be let as a result of smoking will be charged for at full tariff rates to compensate for additional cleaning and loss of revenue.

Corkage
It is our policy that all food and drink consumed on the premises is purchased from the hotel. We are very pleased to serve refreshments to our guests throughout the day. We would therefore ask that guests do not consume on our premises alcoholic drinks that they have bought elsewhere. Drinks purchased from elsewhere and consumed on the premises will be subject to a minimum corkage charge of £10 per bottle.

Corkage is charged at £15.00 per bottle for wine and £20 per bottle for Champagne or spirits.

Dogs
We have only 3 bedrooms available to pet owners, at a supplement of £10 per day to cover the extra housekeeping required.

There is a set of guidelines to be followed that guests will be advised of at the time of booking: dogs must be kept well under control at all times; they are not allowed in public rooms; and they must be accompanied when upstairs.

We reserve the right to refuse or terminate an offer of accommodation if our guidelines are not accepted or adhered to.

Any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of dogs in your room will be charged for.

Lost Property
We will happily return property left behind if requested to do so, however we must ask for the postage to be refunded. Any property unclaimed within 6 weeks will be donated to charity or disposed of appropriately.

Excess Charges
We may charge you sums over and above the value of the booking (for example cleaning charges for excessive soiling, or the cost of repairs to damage to the fabric of the house etc. as a result of your actions, or the actions of your invited guests.)

Important
The management reserves the right to terminate the contract to provide accommodation at any time for any reasonable cause, including unavailability of accommodation. Such reasonable cause would also include unreasonable behaviour on the part of the paying guest, smoking in a prohibited place, taking illegal drugs, using verbal or physical abuse towards the staff or other guests or causing damage to the house through action or negligence.

In the event of such termination, the Greshornish House's liability will be limited to any monies paid but not credited against goods or services already provided. You will continue to be liable for the cost of accommodation booked but not used as a result of such termination, except only where such termination is as a result of accommodation being unavailable.

Payment
Unless otherwise stated, all accounts are to be paid in full on departure. The management reserves the right to charge your account for any items, which may have been inadvertently omitted from your bill.

We accept all major credit cards; some charges may apply when paying by credit card

All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT at 20%.
Service is not included and is at your discretion.

Greshornish House reserves the right to amend prices without notice.
